How to Clean Wax off of Apples before Caramel or Candy Dipping

We've polled, we've asked, we've scoured the internet.  Then we experimented ourselves.  Here are the methods that we found to be most thorough in removing wax from apples.  A clean apple = a super smooth candy apple without bubbles or areas that refuse to coat.
